Reading & discussion with Simone Falk WS 25/26

More than 50 literature enthusiasts came together on Thursday evening, 8 January 2026, for an evening of reading and discussion with German author Simone Falk. Students from the European University Viadrina as well as numerous citizens of the twin city listened to excerpts from the novel "And then we eat Żurek and fall from the sky" - read in German and Polish.

Students from Warsaw and Budapest visit the Polish department Summer semester 2025

In the first week of June, 20 students from the University of Warsaw and Eötvös Loránd University Budapest came to the twin city for an intensive exchange on the topic of "Neighbours and Borders". They were welcomed by students who are learning the neighbouring language in the Viadrina's Polish department.

Students from the University of Warsaw visiting the Polish Department (Summer Semester 2023)

Ten German Studies students from the University of Warsaw were welcomed to the twin city by Viadrina students between 1 and 4 June 2023 as part of an exchange programme. The theme of the visit was the experience of the German-Polish border.

Conferences

Conferences on Polish as a foreign/second or heritage language, which have been organised by the Language of Origin Centre of the Technical University of Darmstadt in cooperation with the Viadrina Language Centre of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) and the Federal Association for Polish Teachers since 2015, alternating between the two locations.
