Study trip by students from the European University Viadrina and Adam Mickiewicz University (Collegium Polonicum) to Kórnik and Rogalin

On 16 May 2024, students taking language courses at the Polish Language Centre of the European University Viadrina and their fellow students from the Polish Studies programme at Adam Mickiewicz University undertook a joint study trip to Kórnik and Rogalin. The aim of the trip was to combine education and social integration, enabling participants to deepen their knowledge in an atmosphere conducive to making new acquaintances and building relationships.

In Kórnik, the group not only visited the historic residence of famous Polish noble families but also took part in a workshop on old prints and documents, during which the students had the unique opportunity to view the oldest items from the castle library’s collection.

Following a packed programme of activities in Kórnik, the students travelled on to Rogalin, where they began their visit with an outdoor social picnic. This provided an excellent opportunity for informal conversations and for the students from both universities to forge closer ties.

Next on the programme were an exploration of the history and art collection of Rogalin Palace, as well as its impressive picture gallery, taking part in a workshop on old aristocratic customs, and a concluding outdoor game in which the students had to demonstrate their skills at lacing corsets or arranging wigs. Once all the activities were over, the students had time to relax in the castle’s picturesque grounds.

The study trip to Kórnik and Rogalin was a successful event, as it combined education with fun and socialising. The participants not only gained new knowledge, but also created unforgettable memories and formed new friendships. The organisers hope that similar trips will become an integral part of the collaboration between the universities and contribute to the students’ further academic and social development.
