On a treasure hunt in Zielona Góra

Discovering a city, exploring its history in a fun way and getting to know students from Poland: on Friday 12 June, 30 students from the European University Viadrina who are learning Polish set off for Zielona Góra. On arrival, they were welcomed by history students from the University of Zielona Góra, who had prepared a creative programme to explore the city and its history.

After an entertaining round of introductions and an introduction to the town’s history, the students followed in the footsteps of Simplicissimus as part of a treasure hunt around the town. The adventurer from the time of the Thirty Years’ War is said to have hidden a treasure in what was then Grünberg. In their search for it, the students explored key locations in the city, solved puzzles and got to know Zielona Góra from a very special perspective.

The group then visited the Lubusz Land Museum, where the focus was primarily on the region’s German-Polish history. Afterwards, there was still time for the students to explore Zielona Góra in small groups on their own.

The event was organised by Aleksandra Kubicka and Dr Tomasz Rajewicz in collaboration with Dr Hanna Kurowska and Dr Małgorzata Szymczak and their students from the University of Zielona Góra. The study trip was funded by the Friends of the European University Viadrina e. V.
