B2-exam German for students of English-language degree programs

Information

The B2-exam German for students of English-language degree programs has been designed  exclusively for students of

  • IBA Bachelor and
  • Bachelor Cultural & Social Studies.

The next written B2-exam will take place on 15 January 2027 in GD Hs ??. It starts at 10 am.
The oral part of the exam will take place at the end of January 2027 at the Viadrina Language Centre.

Registration for the exam takes place at ViaCampus.

The written exam is made up of a

  • listening comprehension,
  • reading comprehension and
  • text production.

You have a total of 150 minutes.

In the oral exam, you will be given a specification sheet plus preparation time before the exam discussion. The use of a monolingual dictionary is permitted in both the written and oral exam.

Instead of the B2-exam, you can also submit the following equivalent qualifications to your faculty.

o German as a Foreign Language (TestDaF): Level B2
o Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang: DSH 1
o Goethe Certificate B2
o Telc B2

In September, we regularly run an intensive course to help you prepare for the B2-exam. You can find more information in the Preparation and Intensive Courses section.

During the winter term, it is possible to attend the DSH & B2 preparation course for students who failed the exam in September/October 2026. More information on ViaCampus.
