Preparation for the B2 written and oral exams in September 2027

To complete the Bachelor programmes IBA and CuSo, students are required to prove their German language proficiency. For this purpose, we offer an intensive B2 German course for students enrolled in English-language degree programmes (Bachelor IBA and CuSo).

The course provides intensive, skills-oriented preparation for all parts of the exam: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing, and speaking.

Participants will become familiar with the exam task formats and practise effective strategies for successfully completing the listening and reading sections. Relevant grammar topics will be reviewed, and strategies for the writing section will be discussed and practised. The course also introduces the different formats of the oral examination and prepares students with targeted speaking exercises. By simulating exam conditions in class, participants will know exactly what to expect before taking the exam.

The course is held in person and comprises 40 teaching units (40 × 45 minutes).

Target group: Viadrina students enrolled in Bachelor IBA and CuSo

Course schedule:  next course in September 2027

Course fee: Free of charge (limited number of places available)

Combined preparation for the written and oral DSH in September 2027

In order to start a German-language degree programme at Viadrina, you need proof of your language proficiency. For this purpose, we offer the German Language Test for University Admission (DSH).

We recommend the DSH preparation course to make sure you are ready for the DSH. This course offers you intensive, skills-orientated preparation for the various parts of the exam: Listening comprehension, reading comprehension, academic language structures, text production and oral language skills.

In the course, you will familiarise yourself with the types of tasks that appear in the DSH. We practise important strategies for successfully completing the listening and reading texts and the associated tasks. We explain and practise the relevant grammar content and transformations for the academic language structures section of the exam. We will discuss how to approach the text production section. You will write several argumentative texts, revise them with the help of the lecturers and thus prepare yourself for writing under time pressure in the exam. We will also introduce you to the various task formats of the oral exam and practise strategies that you’ll need for a successful oral exam. By simulating the exam situation in class, you’ll know exactly what to expect before the exam.

The course takes place in person and comprises 40 teaching units (40 x 45 min.).

Feedback from the preparatory courses

I enjoyed everything about the access course. Although it was intensive, the course helped me to revise all the aspects of the German language I needed for the exam. It was perfect! Now I know what I need to work on.

With every lesson, I could feel my German getting better and better. When I first sat in on the course, I was still nervous about the exam, but by the end I felt really well prepared.
