Examination dates

The UNIcert® Basis and UNIcert® I certificates are awarded upon successful completion of the relevant language courses/modules (A2 for UNIcert® Basis and B1 for UNIcert® I). The dates will be announced during the course.

The certificates UNIcert® II, UNIcert® III and UNIcert® IV German are awarded upon successfully passing a separate examination, provided that the admission requirements described below are met.
The Language Centre usually offers these examinations every semester.

Online registration for the language examinations generally begins on 1 January (Winter Semester) or 1 June (Summer Semester). The admission requirements must be met in order to sit the examination.

The registration deadline closes 3 working days before the respective examination.
(Exception: UNIcert II Englisch: four working days)

Registration is done through viaCampus.

The lectorate does not currently offer UNIcert® II and III.

Further information on the exams

The exam names (above) are linked to the administrative platform viaCampus. Here you can sign up through the registration button:

Alternatively, you can select the exams yourself through "My degree programme" → "Register/deregister for exams."

The university's fee regulations (§ 3) stipulate that an administrative fee (€5.00) must be paid for late examination registration / cancellation of registration (per examination).

Students who wish to register for or cancel their registration for language examinations after the end of the regular registration period must report to the Viadrina Language Centre office (AB 019) at least two working days before the language examination. (Saturday is not a working day). The administration fee (€5.00 - cash only) must be paid at the secretary's office.

Registration on the working day before the exam and on the day of the exam is not possible.

This information refers to the following tests:

  • Examination for the certificate UNIcert® II / "University-specific language training" (HS)
  • Examination for the certificate UNIcert® III / "Academic Communication"
  • Examination for the certificate UNIcert® IV German / "Academic Communication German"

1. A passed examination may not be repeated.

2. If an examination is not passed, the examination may be repeated twice. The examination must be repeated in full (i.e. all parts of the examination).

3. The first repetition is possible without any further requirement

4. A second retake is only possible if:

a) you have previously submitted an application to the examination board, specifically: to Dr. Almut Klepper-Pang as its chair;

b) you consult the relevant language department regarding this repeat examination.

Once this consultation - i.e. advisory session - has taken place, the second re-examination will be granted.

If the examination is again failed after the second resit, the examination is definitively failed. You will receive notification of this, together with instructions on how to appeal.
