Are you attending a language course at the Language Centre, and  would you like to have more practice? Do you want to improve your language skills or meet a person from a country the language of wchich you are learning and get to know their culture better? Do you want to learn a new language, one that´s not offered at the Language Centre in a relaxed atmosphere? Or would you like to decide on your own, how, what and where you would like to learn…? We are pleased to support you in finding a matching language tandem partner.

In a language tandem, two people with different native languages learn the language of the tandem partner. Find out how this works in this video.

The Language Tandem Online Exchange

You can participate any time during the semester in our online exchange. How does it work?

Fill out the online questionnaire. Please give us detailed information so that we can find you a suitable language tandem partner. You will hear back from us within two weeks. Once we have found a matching tandem partner for you, we will invite you both to a first online meeting, so you can get to know each other. In case we cannot pair you up with a partner right way, we will keep your information in our databank so that we can contact you as soon as we find a matching partner.

The maximum time your data will be saved is one semester, you can, however, reregister if you wish. We are using your data only for the internal organisation and will not pass this information on to third parties (except your potential language tandem partner). Registration is only possible with a Viadrina email address.

Tandem Meeting

In the winter term we invite all students to a Tandem Meeting! During the meeting you will have the opportunity to meet a tandem partner in person. There will also be an interactive presentation on the basics of tandem learning. We look forward to seeing you! All languages are welcome!
